Batwoman is a superhero drama series that aired on The CW from October 6, 2019, to March 2, 2022. It is a spin-off of Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl.

It was ordered to series on May 3, 2019.[6] On January 7, 2020, the series was renewed for a second season, which debuted on January 17, 2021.[7] On February 3, 2021, The CW renewed Batwoman for a third season, which premiered on October 13, 2021.

On April 29, 2022, The CW cancelled Batwoman after three seasons.[8]

Premise[]

Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.[9]

On July 17, 2018, The CW first announced their plans to put a Batwoman spinoff series into works.[13]

Casting[]

On August 7, 2018, Ruby Rose was cast as Kate Kane,[1] set to make her debut in the Elseworlds crossover event between The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl, which aired from Sunday, December 9 to Tuesday, December 11.
