The fourth and final season of Black Lightning premiered on The CW on February 8, 2021, and concluded on May 24, 2021. It was announced on January 7, 2020.[1]

The season aired on Monday nights at 9:00 PM following All American.

It arrived on DVD on October 12, 2021.

On November 20, 2020, it was announced that this would be the final season of Black Lightning.[2]

Critical response



  • On November 12, 2020, it was announced that the seventh episode would serve as the backdoor pilot of potential spin-off series Painkiller, which would star Jordan Calloway as the titular character.[4]
