The sixth and penultimate season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow premiered on The CW on May 2, 2021, and concluded on September 5, 2021. It was announced on January 7, 2020.[1]

The season aired on Sunday nights at 8:00 PM prior to Batwoman from May 2 to June 27, and then Wellington Paranormal for the remainder of the season.

It arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on November 9, 2021.

"Having spent last season trying to track down the Loom of Fate in order to bring back their slain comrades, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they’ve encountered in the past or future. Co-captains of the time-ship Waverider Sara Lance and Ava Sharpe have dealt with monsters, time anomalies, and most recently, villains from Hell, but this season they will face something even more challenging and bizarre … space aliens!"

"After one of their own is abducted by a ruthless alien, this new mission becomes personal. It will take more than the combined powers of a dark magician, John Constantine; a semi-reformed arsonist, Mick Rory; historian who transforms into steel, Nate Heywood; and a brother-sister wind-totem-wielding duo, Zara Tarazi and Behrad Tarazi to save the world for a sixth time. They must recruit a new Legend, a woman who was abducted by aliens when she was a child and supposedly imbued with powers that will help the team defeat their intergalactic foes. Either that or she’s just crazy…"[2]

Critical response

  • On June 2, 2020, it was announced that Maisie Richardson-Sellers would not be returning as a series regular.[7]
  • On June 17, 2020, Shayan Sobhian was upped to a series regular role.[8]
  • On August 6, 2020, Olivia Swann confirmed that she would be back as a series regular.[9]
  • This season marks the final appearance of Dominic Purcell as a series regular, as he announced in a now-deleted post on April 17, 2021, that he would be leaving the series.[10] Due to Purcell's fiery wording in the post, many fans speculated that he abruptly quit the series due to "beef" with Warner Bros. However, later that day, Purcell took to Instagram to clarify that he did not quit the series per se, but rather decided not to renew his contract which ended this season. He announced he would be returning periodically in the seventh season.[11]
