The eighth and penultimate season of The Flash premiered on The CW on November 16, 2021, and concluded on June 29, 2022. It was announced on February 3, 2021.[1]
The first arc of the season is entitled Armageddon, which is a five episode-long crossover event that aired on Tuesday nights at 8:00 PM prior to Riverdale from November 16 to December 14. The remainder of the season aired on Wednesday nights at 8:00 PM prior to Kung Fu from March 9 to June 15, and Wellington Paranormal on June 22 and June 29.
It arrived on DVD and Blu-ray on October 18, 2022.[2]
Synopsis[]
A powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances and Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton) and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail.

- On May 4, 2021, it was announced that Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes would not be returning as series regulars.[6]
- On June 30, 2021, it was announced that key cast members Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, and Danielle Panabaker had all closed deals with Warner Bros. to continue in the eighth season with lead Grant Gustin.[4]
- This is the second season of the series to not premiere in the month of October.
- The season was previously set for an episode count of 18, before it was later revealed that it was upped to 20.[7][8]
- The five-episode Armageddon was rebroadcast on The CW with consecutive weekly episodes from July 7 to August 4, 2022.
